Backing Up Gmail Is Easy

Posted by: Becki | Comments (4)

gmailbackupWhile I love the fact that I can access my email anywhere I go, I am also realistic. Realistic that technology sometimes has glitches. It’s happened to all of us and it seems like it only happens when we really need something.

Gmail Backup makes it quick and easy to back up your Gmail emails on a regular basis. In fact, it’s so simple that my 7 year-old can use it. Talk about someone who has some Google Moxie…it’s him. I think I’ll have a Google guru on my hands in no time!

The backed up files are saved as easy to read .eml files which can be read by practically any email program on the market today. So if you decide that you want to move from Gmail to another service, you should have no issues whatsoever transitioning.

You can download your copy of Gmail Backup here: http://www.gmail-backup.com/

Whitelisting Email in Gmail Step by Step

Posted by: Becki | Comments (0)

Whenever we subscribe to newsletters, ezines or fill out a simple sign up box on a website, we are told that we need to “whitelist” the email address given (ex. ezine@mywebsite.com). Google’s Gmail has an awesome built in SPAM elimination system, but if you’re anything like me, you want to make sure that you receive what you actually sign up for.

Here are just a few simple steps for whitelisting an email address in Gmail:

I recently signed up for an autoresponder for a teleclass that I want to attend, however Gmail placed the message in my SPAM folder. When it was in the SPAM folder I “checked” the message and then clicked on “Not spam”. The message was then moved to my inbox.

Now I want to ensure that I receive any reminders about the class in my in box so I am going to whitelist the sender of this particular email.

1. So I go into the message received and click on the arrow beside the “Reply” button

gmailwhitelist

2. Highlight and click on “Add Jane Doe to Contacts List”.

3. You are finished.

By simply adding an email address to your contacts list, you will automatically receive email from the email address without issue.
